Jazz dance has evolved from the classical technique of ballet but is expressed through more upbeat music and quicker movements. The style and feel of the music determines the style of the choreography. Our jazz classes' movement rages from Broadway jazz to contemporary jazz and to the latest jazz funk.
Musical Theatre classes will teach our students how to become a triple threat through singing, dancing and acting. During the fall semester the teacher will choose a new musical each month. They will learn about the story, how to portray the characters and learn different styles of dance based on the choreography set for that show. They will learn a holiday themed musical theatre piece for the Studio B Holiday Show and will learn another piece that fits the studio's theme for the May Recital as well.
